In a continual effort to dramatically expand its offerings and meet broadcasters' demands for improved workflows, global rental house Video Equipment Rentals (VER) has purchased six LDX XtremeSpeed (LDX XS) 6X ultra-slow-motion cameras, along with companion XCU XtremeSpeed XF Fiber base stations from Grass Valley, a Belden Brand. This unique combination gives VER an edge over its competition by delivering stunning imagery in super- and ultra-slow motion for its clients.
VER has served the broadcast and A/V market for three decades with offices in the United States, Canada and Europe. Its new camera solution keeps the company on the forefront of next-generation workflows, as the LDX XS dramatically expands VER's offerings with 3X and 6X workflows in 1080i and 3X workflows for 1080p broadcasts, with an additional 1X standard-speed live output.
We work with a lot of major sports broadcasters, and they are continually looking to improve the quality of their productions with sharper imagery, commented Howie Rosenthal, director of broadcast services, VER. The LDX XS delivers ultra-slow motion at 360 frames per second (720p/1080i), which is much faster than all the standard 3X super-slow-motion cameras we've used. This is a superior achievement in super-slow-motion and ultra-slow-motion production, and it is certain to have a huge impact on our business.
The powerful LDX XS camera delivers instant time-to-air capabilities, so that the ultra-slow-motion footage from the LDX XS is available immediately to VER's clients, meaning they don't have to wait for the camera to transfer clips from an internal storage device.
LDX XS triple-speed 1080p and sextuple-speed ultra-slow-motion operations are fully supported with Grass Valley's latest fiber transmission system-XCU XtremeSpeed XF Fiber, which is a future-ready transmission system that effortlessly manages the large bandwidth required by LDX cameras. The rack-mounted XCU cradle is fully compatible with the 3G transmission XCUs, which makes the XCU chassis easily removable and transferrable between OB vans, studios or any location.
