Hollywood Center Studios has partnered with Mount St. Mary's College to provide production space to students participating in the school's Masters of Fine Arts Program in Film and Television. Beginning this fall, graduate students will have access to Hollywood Center Studio's unique Stage 12 for use in producing student films and other projects.
Hollywood Center Studios is very pleased to work with Mount St. Mary's College in training tomorrow's filmmakers, say Vice President of Sales Richard Schnyder. We are very impressed with the school's program, which emphasizes hands-on learning experiences in professional environments. Here they will have access to world-class facilities that are used every day for the production of television shows, films, commercials and other productions.
Hollywood Center Studios' Stage 12 is a 4,400 ft 2 dedicated green screen stage with a 3-wall, hard cove cyc, one of the largest of its kind in Southern California. The stage is ideal for visual effects applications and many other types of production. Hollywood Center Studios is also providing space for use in classroom instruction.
Hollywood Center Studios is providing our students with a professional space in which to learn and develop skills that are critical to their future careers, says Mount St. Mary's College Department Specialist Mary-Kate Fitzpatrick. It's a place where filmmakers are born.
Founded in 1925, and with campuses in downtown Los Angeles and in Brentwood, Mount St. Mary's College will launch its MFA Program in Film and Television this fall in Hollywood. The two-year, weekend program is designed for working professionals and aims to prepare them for high value careers in the entertainment industry. Students will have access to state-of-the-art production facilities and classes taught by industry veterans with gear that includes RED, ARRI Alexa, Blackmagic and Canon cameras, and Avid and Pro Tools certification.
Building on the school's highly regarded undergraduate program in film and television, the MFA program will be led by Program Director Ron Fernandez, a screenwriter and filmmaker who worked as a professor at USC and other universities before coming to Mount St. Mary's College. Kelby Thwaits will serve as Technical Director and Certified Avid Instructor. Other faculty will include directory Tommy O'Haver and writer/producer Don Whitehead.
Mount St. Marys College is delighted to be part of the rich history of Hollywood Center Studios, whose legacy stretches from Laurel and Hardy comedies to I Love Lucy to the countless movies and TV shows filmed there over the years, said Fernandez. We look forward to building a strong partnership and to train the next generation of artists and media professionals.
Now in its 95th year, Hollywood Center Studios has a rich and colorful history that mirrors that of Hollywood itself. Built in 1919 by an associate of Charlie Chaplin, the studio has provided stages and production space for some of the most notable film and television productions of the past century. Currently, the studio hosts television productions for Disney, Comedy Central and others, as well as many commercial and film productions.
