When launched and reviewed in 2014, Softubes innovative software/hardware hybrid Console 1 emulated most aspects of a mixer channel strip - but not the fader section. Five years on, their newly launched $699 599 Console 1 Fader logically addresses that omission in an innovative synthesis of software and hardware that neatly goes beyond what a standard fader control surface can offer - not least in that it has ten faders (that is, matching our usual complement of fingers!) rather than the more commonly found eight. In the linked video interview at the top of this article, conducted at Softubes AES stand on the opening morning of the show, SOS Feature Editor Sam Inglis spoke to Todd Urban from the company about the new launch.
