Samsung Introduces TV Discovery Service at Mobile World Congress on Feb 22, 2013 Service allows content from multiple providers to be found and played through a Samsung mobile device, Smart TV or both

At this years Mobile World Congress, Samsung will introduce TV Discovery, a service that offers a faster and easier way for you to find and enjoy video and live TV content. Complete with personalised recommendations and the ability to search across multiple content providers, TV Discovery can be used from upcoming Samsung mobile devices, Smart TVs, or both.

TV Discovery simplifies the content search process by integrating and relaying real-time programme information from multiple content sources, including traditional live TV, video-on-demand or online content services such as YouTube. Over time, it also offers personal recommendations based on your own viewing and preference history.

More and more people are starting to expect the same experience from each and every screen they own - whether its their smartphone and tablet, TV or camera. TV Discovery is bringing that demand ever closer to becoming a reality, by giving our customers the opportunity to search for and enjoy their favourite TV shows or the latest films wherever they are, whether thats on the commute into work or sat in their living room, said Simon Stanford, Vice President of IM division, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland.

The service can be used to find and view content on Samsung SMART TVs and supported mobile devices, or to easily transfer or mirror content between connected devices. TV Discovery also transforms a connected tablet into a universal remote control, meaning you can conduct on-demand and live TV programme searches directly from your mobile device and view selections on your Samsung SMART TV.

TV Discovery will initially aggregate content from Netflix and Blockbuster in the US and Acetrax, Wuaki, MovieMax, FilmIn, Chili, Path and SF Anytime in Europe.

TV Discovery features include:

Universal Remote Control: Connects to all major media devices including cable, satellite, home stereos, DVD and Blu-Ray players, so you no longer need multiple remote controls to manage your content choices

Personalised Recommendations: Allows you to discover the most relevant content to you through personal recommendations

Comprehensive Search: Means you can find films, TV shows and on-demand video from popular sources in a single search

Cross-Device Experience: Allows you to project content from a smartphone or tablet, to a TV, or vice-versa

Social Sharing: You can share what youre watching with your friends and family, plus see what they have watched themselves

The Samsung TV Discovery service will launch in the first quarter of 2013 in the UK on all series of Samsung SMART TVs, and in the second quarter of 2013 in the UK on upcoming mobile devices.
