Friend MTS, the leading provider of video content security solutions, today reported that numerous video service providers in Canada have uniformly chosen Friend MTS as their partner of choice to prevent piracy with Dynamic Delivery Server Blocking (DDSB). Forming an industry-first collaboration, these organisations have secured a nationwide court order to dynamically block access to any servers hosting broadcasters' pirated content, including content from major sports leagues such as FIFA, NBA, NHL, and UFC.
Under the terms of this court order, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) can dynamically block access to servers attempting to distribute pirated content, without requiring a new order for each sporting event. This approach saves money and time by reducing court application fees and appearances while simultaneously protecting billions of dollars of sports content rights.
Pioneered by Friend MTS in 2017, DDSB delivers large scale blocking of content while meeting the strictest legal standard required for court-granted blocking orders. It arms customers with the intelligence and evidence they need to persuade ISPs to restrict access to illicit servers, drastically cutting the number of illegal streams available. This in turn encourages viewers to watch their content on legitimate commercial sites and helps maintain the value of that video content. Friend MTS' DDSB has a proven international track record of preventing illegitimate access to content in as little as four minutes. While this rapid enforcement is particularly suited to short format content, such as sports and live events, it is also increasingly recognised by broadcasters as a highly effective means of protecting linear content.
