Este viernes a las 9 de la noche el Kursaal donostiarra levantar el tel n de la 61 edici n del Festival de San Sebasti n. Con Cayetana Guill n Cuervo y Unax Ugalde como maestros de ceremonias, la ceremonia contar con importantes rostros del panorama cinematogr fico internacional que celebrar el comienzo de una intensa semana de actividades, proyecciones y eventos que tienen el cine como protagonista.
Foosball, el nuevo filme de animaci n del argentino Juan Jos Campanella, director de The Secret in Their Eyes, abre este a o el certamen. Annette Bening presentar la pel cula The Face of Love (La mirada del amor), t tulo que inaugurar la secci n Perlas. Michelle Yeoh ser la invitada de honor de la secci n Culinary Zinema como protagonista de Final Recipe, la pel cula que inaugurar la secci n.
Oliver Stone lleva a San Sebasti n su nueva serie documental The Untold History of the United States y presentar Alexander: The Ultimate Cut, el montaje definitivo de Alexander.
Terry Gilliam regresa al Festival con su ltima pel cula, The Zero Theorem, que ser proyectada en la secci n Perlas.
Hirokazu Kore-eda tambi n vuelve a San Sebasti n para dar a conocer en la secci n Perlas su m s reciente trabajo, Soshite chichi ni Naru / Like Father Like Son, que presentar en compa a de uno de sus protagonistas, el actor y cantante Masaharu Fukuyama.
La gala de apertura, que ser retransmitida en directo por TVE y ETB, estar por primera vez bajo la direcci n de Patxi Barco (San Sebasti n, 1959), un realizador con una amplia carrera en el mundo del espect culo y que ha trabajado en cine, teatro y televisi n.
El jurado oficial de esta edici n estar presidido por el director Todd Haynes, y en l participar n Mariela Besuievsky (productora), Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (actriz y directora), David Byrne (m sico), Paulina Garc a (actriz), Cesc Gay (director) y Diego Luna (actor). La guionista Marina Stavenhagen presidir el jurado del Premio Kutxa Nuevos Directores, el productor Bruno Bettati encabezar el del Premio Horizontes y el director Amat Escalante ser presidente del jurado del Encuentro Internacional de Estudiantes de Cine.
Living is easy with eyes closed, de David Trueba; Cannibal, de Manuel Mart n Cuenca, la coproducci n hispano-canadiense Enemy, de Denis Villeneuve y basada en una novela de Jos Saramago, y The wound, pera prima de Fernando Franco, son las pel culas espa olas que competir n por la Concha de Oro.

Un a o m s, el Festival de San Sebasti n reafirma su apuesta por el mejor cine latinoamericano producido a lo largo del a o. La programaci n de Horizontes Latinos de la 61 edici n del Festival de San Sebasti n incluye once producciones provenientes de Argentina, M xico, Chile, Brasil y Uruguay. Una selecci n de notables pel culas que han competido o han sido presentadas en importantes festivales internacionales, pero que no han sido vistas previamente en ning n festival espa ol ni estrenadas comercialmente en nuestro pa s.

Los Premios Donostia este a o recaer n en la actriz Carmen Maura, como homenaje a toda su trayectoria, y en uno de los galanes con m s cach internacional, Hugh Jackman.
The XII International Student Film El Festival de San Sebasti n y Tabakalera-Centro Internacional de Cultura Contempor nea presentan un a o m s el Encuentro Internacional de Estudiantes de Cine, una convocatoria que tiene como objetivo dar a conocer los trabajos de los alumnos de escuelas de cine de todo el mundo. En la preselecci n de este decimosegundo Encuentro han participado ciento treinta y ocho cortometrajes provenientes de sesenta y tres escuelas de veintis is pa ses: Alemania, Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, EE.UU, Espa a, Francia, Grecia, Hungr a, Ir n, Israel, Lituania, M xico, Polonia, Portugal, Reino Unido, Rep blica Checa, Ruman a, Serbia, Singapur, Suiza y Uruguay.
El Encuentro tendr lugar durante los d as 25, 26 y 27 de septiembre.
