China Africa Film Festival programme announced for CTIFM&F --

Earlier this year the Cape Town International Film Market and Festival announced its collaboration with the China-Africa International Film Festival (CAIFF) that aims to strengthen the exchange of learning culture between China and Africa.

The festival is hosted by China Radio International and the Beijing Film Academy, and organised by Global Max Media Group (GMMG) and the African Oriental Post Group.

The partnership will not only introduce Chinese cinema to South Africa and vice versa, it is hoped that the new festival will encourage cooperation in the film sector, making Chinese and African films more available in one-anothers regions. As part of these efforts a host of events have been announced to take place from 16 October 2017.

The official Opening Ceremony for the Festival will take place at the One & Only Hotel on the evening of 16 October. Speaking at the event will be Mr Cao Li, acting consul general of the Chinese Consulate-General in Cape Town, Mr Zhang Jian, deputy chairman of Academy Council of Beijing Film Academy, Mr Luo Xubing, deputy director of Overseas Promotion at China Radio International, Ms Wan Minfang, producer of the Chinese film, When Africa Meets You, Mr Miles Nan, president of GMMG, and Ms Tao Hong, image ambassador of China Africa International Film Festival.

This red-carpet event will also see the screening of the Chinese film, Love Beyond Eternity.

The China Africa Film Forum 17 October 2017, 10h00 12h00

The China Africa Film Forum is a two-hour forum highlighting the cooperation and development of the film industry between the the two regions.

The forum will feature distinguished guest speakers from both China and Africa who will present on topics related to the opportunities for co-productions, cultural exchange and business development within the film industries.

The forum will also include a pre-release screening of When Africa Meets You, a Chinese movie filmed in Africa with a follow up discussion on the film including the producer of the film, Ms Wan Min Fang who will address how China and Africa can collaborate in terms of the film industry.

Speakers will include Chinese director Qin Chuan, Beijing Film Academy professor Qiao Liang, and Chinese film personality, Ms Tao Hong.

Five Chinese films are also included in the CTIM &F schedule; Another Me in the World, Don t Let Mom Cry, Love Beyond Eternity, Dear Tutu, and A Paper Marriage.
