RT live at Bloom 2017

Five days of live television, radio, weather bulletins, panels & music from RT

RT will mark the 11th anniversary of Bloom 2017 in Phoenix Park, Dublin from Thursday 1st Monday 5th June by broadcasting live over five days from a specially constructed mobile radio and TV studio and live performance area on site.

From live television to live radio, from live music to live RT Weather reports and from lively panel discussions to children's entertainment, RT will have a significant presence at Bloom 2017 over five full days (full schedule below).

Dee Forbes, Director-General, RT said: "Bloom has become one of RT 's most important public events and gives us a valuable opportunity to meet our audience and showcase our services. Our partnership with Bord Bia and Bloom goes from strength to strength and we are delighted to play our part in such a successful event. We've worked hard to develop a diverse range of live programming across RT 's television, radio, online and mobile services over the five days and hope visitors to Bloom will visit our set to say hello and enjoy some great RT entertainment."

Marty Whelan will get RT 's live coverage off to a positive start on Thursday morning with the first of RT lyric fm's live broadcasts from Bloom with Marty in the Morning at 10.00am. Also on RT lyric fm, Lorcan Murray will broadcast live at 11am on Saturday.

Live music will come from the RT lyric fm Quartet throughout the five days, starting with live performances at 12.15pm and 4.15pm on Thursday.

Aine Lawlor and Marty Morrissey return to present three live half-hour shows on RT One from the first day of Bloom (5.10pm, 7pm & 8.30pm), including the final of Super Garden 2017 at 7pm. Aine and Marty will meet with the designers responsible for creating this year's stunning show gardens and take an in-depth look into this year's biggest floral trends. Viewers can also vote for their favourite garden with the Viewers' Choice Award. We rejoin Aine and Marty live at 8.30pm on RT One as they capture the energy and excitement of the first day and unveil the winner of the Super Garden Viewers' Choice Award.

RT Radio 1 will be well represented at Bloom 2017, starting with Joe Duffy as he hosts Liveline s Funny Friday live at 1.45pm. This will be followed by CountryWide live which gets things off to an 8.00am start on Saturday at Bloom, followed by Sunday with Miriam at 10.00am and Ronan Collins at 11am on Bank Holiday Monday. RT Radio 1 will also host Live Music Sessions on Sunday and Monday at 12.30pm and 2.30pm respectively

Weather will be on everyone's minds over the weekend and RT 's popular live weather reports begin with the Lunchtime Weather live at Bloom on RT One on Thursday and Friday, followed by a live RT Weather reports on the Six One and Nine O'Clock news (Thursday only) on RT One.

Panel discussions have proved very popular at the RT set in recent years and there'll be a number taking place throughout the weekend, including a chance to meet the judges of RT One's Super Garden at 1pm on Thursday, a conversation with RT Guide s gardening columnist, Dermot O Neill who will offer expert tips and advice at 2pm on Thursday hosted by Donal O Donoghue and Olympic Rowers, Paul and Gary Donovan will join RT Sport's Jacqui Hurley for a chat at 10.30am on Friday.

There will also be singing and dancing galore for kids as part of Jolly Days with the gang from RT jr at 3pm on Sunday. And due to popular demand, we'll have Face Painting from 11am on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
