Recording legend Alan Parsons, together with a hand-picked team of audio specialists and tutors, has announced a series of recording masterclasses at his brand-new Neve 5088-equipped recording facility, Parsonics in Santa Barbara, on July 25th, 26th and 27th. Sounds like a most promising spot to study engineering with one of the industry's all-time greats...!

The class on July 25th concerns the process of teaching audio production and engineering, and is aimed at music educators. Topics include funding, DAW choice, lesson plans and students' career opportunities. The session concludes with Alan teaching different ways to simultaneously record acoustic guitar and vocals - always a popular part of his Art & Science Of Sound Recording (ASSR) demos.

The July 26th masterclass focuses exclusively on mixing, with Alan mixing two tracks recorded at previous ASSR sessions, one in stereo, the other in surround. Attendees will benefit from observing Alan's approach to mix preparation, automation, processing, panning and instrumental and vocal balancing.

The final session on July 27th is a full band recording session with live tracking and instrumental and vocal overdubs, giving attendees the opportunity to observe Alan's on-the-spot decision-making relating to miking, performance and tracking. All meals and refreshments are included in the masterclass fees, which amount to $795 for the first session, $895 for the second, and $995 for the third. Alternatively, for $2495 you can attend all three days. See the link below for more details.
