Legendary performer Bette Midler launches first ever UK television special for ITV - Bette Midler: One Night Only'

In a showbiz career spanning half-a-century, multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and legendary performer Bette Midler will be gracing ITV screens in her first-ever UK television special, Bette Midler: One Night Only.

Hosted by Joanna Lumley, Bette Midler: One Night Only will see musical performances interspersed with candid chat with the leading lady, offering an insight into her life in the spotlight. And as a true comedy legend, we can expect a lot of laughs along the way.

The Grammy Award winner will be performing a selection of her classic hits, including Wind Beneath My Wings, From A Distance and The Rose, as well as songs from her new album.

The Divine Miss M is preparing to release her first studio album in eight years, It's The Girls! which is a collection of songs of the greatest girl groups of all time, covering everyone from The Supremes and The Ronettes to TLC.

I can't believe this is really my first special in the UK,' said Midler. What have we been waiting for all these years? We're going to have a ball. I'm looking forward to performing some of my favourite songs and also introducing some wonderful new songs that celebrate iconic girl groups. I love the music these women made. They say behind every great man, theres a great woman. Well, I think that behind every great woman, there should be at least two other women singing and dancing in perfect unison.'

One of the worlds best-loved and most versatile entertainers, Bette Midler has garnered accolades in all quarters of show business. Shes earned four Grammy Awards including Song of the Year (1989: Wind Beneath My Wings; 1990: From A Distance) and Record of the Year (1989: Wind Beneath My Wings); two Academy Award nominations, three Emmy Awards, one Tony Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and nine American Comedy Awards. Bette Midler has recorded 13 studio albums and has gone on to sell over 30 million albums worldwide.

Bette Midler: One Night Only is an ITV Studios Entertainment production for ITV, and will be broadcast later in the Autumn.

The programme was commissioned by Director of Entertainment and Comedy Elaine Bedell, ITV and Peter Davey, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, ITV. The Executive Producers are Nicholas Steinberg and Lee Connolly and the Producer is Katharine Begg.
