Utopia to capture canada on city tv this fall
Utopia is scheduled to make its debut on City TV this year. Talpa's groundbreaking, fully interactive multiplatform project will be featured on City TV's fall/winter schedule. The popular Canadian English-language television network, owned by Rogers Broadcasting Ltd., is the country's third most-watched private sector TV network after CTV and Global.
The number of countries where the innovative reality format will air is increasing rapidly. After The Netherlands, the US, Germany, Turkey and Romania, Canada will now be the sixth country where Utopia will be broadcast. In The Netherlands, Utopia' has been on air for more than five months on SBS6. The program, which airs daily, has nearly quadrupled the channel average in the extremely competitive early evening time slot. In the US, Talpa Media USA is working closely with the FOX network to realize an American version of Utopia' to launch in the fall of this year.
A group of 15 passionate individuals, the pioneers of today, bid farewell to their current lives. They have one year to build an entirely new existence, a new society, in a place where no rules, laws or power struggles exist. They start their own community with next to nothing. No one can predict what will happen. Right from the start, however, everyone is able to follow them closely thanks to the more than 100 high tech cameras and dozens of microphones. The Utopia online platform offers viewers the opportunity to actually become part of the Utopia community, offering 24/7 access to live streams, premium content and even the right to cast their vote.
