David Woodman Named General Manager of Root Sports, Rocky Mountain Region

DIRECTV Sports Networks announced that David Woodman has been named General Manager of its Root Sports branded network in the Rocky Mountain region. Woodman will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Root Sports Rocky Mountain, including team relations, event productions, ad sales, and marketing. Woodman will report to Patrick Crumb, President of DIRECTV Sports Networks.

Woodman is a veteran television executive with over 25 years of experience. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of the Americas for UK-based Motive Television Inc., leading initiatives to expand the technology company's operations into the United States and Latin America. In addition, Woodman held the role of Senior Vice President and General Manager for Comcast SportsNet New England (formerly Fox Sports Net New England) from 1998-2008, where he delivered consistent income and subscriber growth and helped launch the network's signature Sports Tonight program.

Woodman brings significant international experience as well, having served as Managing Director for Sci-Fi Channel Europe from 1995-1998. There he oversaw the launch and management of the cable and satellite channel reaching six million homes in the UK, Scandinavia, Belgium and Netherlands. He also served as Director of International Business Development for USA Networks from 1993-1994.

Woodman earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, an MA in History from Cambridge University, and a BA in English from University of California, Santa Barbara.
