The telenovela, The Wife, which is currently in its third season is nearly reaching its ending credits as the drama will surely conclude on the remaining episodes that are left.

The story behind the telenovela and its loyal fans The show which is based on the popular books by Dudu Busani-Dube and follows the lives of the Zulu brothers and the women in their lives.

The show's loyal viewers call themselves the mbumba nation' or the 5 am gang' as they are more popularly known.

The show has enjoyed success but it has not just been roses for the show there has been some negative feedback from some fans who feel that the show has departed from the storyline of the original books which the show is based on.

The casting of Wiseman Mncube to replace the popular award-winning Bonko Khoza was another reason that the viewers were not pleased with the show. The viewers have however warmed up to Wiseman especially with his adaption of Mqhele and his ability to show the different and complex nature of Mqhele's personality.

The Wife's curtain call The third season was promoted by the show's production company, Stained Glass, as being the most explosive yet has managed to live up to the hype. The typical episode count per season was between 30 episodes (season 1) and 36 episodes (season 2) but this season the show according to entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela's tweet has shot sixty episodes. This week the show hit the 51st episode mark of the third season.

The end of the show will definitely be met with mixed reactions from the fans as there will be those who have been counting down until the end of the show. The 5am gang will definitely be loyal until the end of the show.
