RT Radio 1 s Doc On One Wins 2016 Justice Media Overall Award
23 June 2016: RT is delighted to announce that RT Radio 1s Documentary On One: The Case That Never Was has won the 2016 Justice Media Overall Award and the Justice Media Award in the National Radio category.
Co-produced by Frank Shouldice and Liam O Brien, Documentary On One: The Case That Never Was tells the story of Bogdan Chain, and the case bearing his name without his knowledge or consent. The Justice Media Award judges described the documentary as fascinating', terrific', original' and absolutely brilliant'.
Head of RT Radio 1, Tom McGuire said: It's the first time that a radio documentary has won the Justice Media Overall Award. I'd like to congratulate the Documentary on One team for this fantastic win. This award is due to the successful collaboration between RT Radio 1 and the RT Investigations Unit, who did an award-winning piece of work together.

RT also won in the prestigious Television News, Television Features, Court Reporting and Digital Features categories.
RT News' Ray Kennedy won the Television Justice Media Award for Five Days in March: The Battle for Gorsehill, while Vivienne Traynor won in the Court Reporting (Broadcast) category for her reports on Satellite Gran, the case of a 90 year old Irish woman prosecuted for having a satellite dish on the front of her house.
The winners of the Justice Media Award in the Television (Features and Documentaries) category were Conor Ryan and John Cunningham of RT Investigates for their formidable documentary: Standards in Public Office , praised as an incredibly well-presented and truly engaging report involving a veritable trawl through mountains of paperwork to assess how seriously elected representatives take their legal obligations and commitments to ethics in their offices and avoiding conflicts of interest. Meanwhile, Katie Hannon and Doireann O'Hara of RT One's Prime Time received a merit certificate for their report Justice Delayed.
The winner of the Justice Media Award in the Digital/Online (Features) category was Will Goodbody for his excellent analysis of the Safe Harbour case . Judges praised an excellent example of journalism that fosters greater understanding of, and educates the public about, a complex legal topic central pillars of the Justice Media Awards this analysis piece on the RT .ie website is clear, concise and brilliant in its simplicity.
