Sail GP is bringing race fans closer than ever to the sport with a new app for Apple Vision Pro.

Matt Lord, Director of Technology & Digital Systems at SailGP says SailGP is excited to launch RaceScape XR and a new XR experience for fans, ahead of the Germany Sail Grand Prix | Sassnitz this weekend.

We're continually pushing the boundaries on our digital fan experience and development of cutting edge technology to bring our Grand Prix events to life for our fans, and provide them with the ability to truly immerse themselves in the heart of the racing action, he says.

A first-of-its-kind XR experience in sail racing, the RaceScape XR app provides a number of experiences including multi-screen viewing of the World Feed, UmpApp, and team onboard videos in the palm of the users hand, with live race data and leaderboards showcasing live results. Also look for AR Tabletop Racing with real-time boat positioning and tactical data, alongside ghost boat competitors put the viewer right in the virtual race-course and the ability to instantly switch between on board video in the each of the boats in the F50 fleet. Live Data Integration is also a big part of the experience, providing real-time and historical race metrics for full replay of all the event action

RaceScape has been built on SailGP's industry-leading production technology LiveLine. The patented in-house broadcast graphics package, which powers the storytelling of SailGP and demystifies the sport, has enabled the championship to broaden its fanbase. The technology, which has received numerous accolades including an Emmy Award, has helped underscore SailGP's reputation as one of the most innovative leagues in sport.

By combining the world's most exciting racing on water with cutting-edge extended reality technology, SailGP is pushing the boundaries of how fans connect with the sport, whether on the shoreline or remotely. Already this year, the 2025 season had become the most technologically advanced in sailing history through a number of technological innovations, ranging from AI-powered race marks and AI-powered anti-crash technology to virtual reality fan experiences and real-time 3D tabletop racing viewers.
