Alison Steadman heads to Shetland for brand new ITV documentary

Alison Steadman travels to Shetland to fulfil her ambition to explore the area and its wildlife, for a special ITV documentary.

Produced by Twofour, Alison Steadman's Shetland will see the actress and twitcher' immerse herself in the islands breath-taking and challenging landscapes to see its incredible colonies of rare birds such as gannets and puffins.

The programme will also provide viewers with an insight into Alison and her love of bird watching, which began in her childhood and has led to her becoming a patron for the RSPB. Alisons long-held desire to visit Shetland was sparked by hearing about its rare wildlife and renowned puffin colonies.

The biologically and geologically diverse archipelago of Shetland spans across more than 100 islands. Viewers will see Alison trekking through parts of the dramatic landscape in her search for rare wildlife and even sea kayaking around the coast to get closer to the birds and sea creatures there.

Alison said: I'm thrilled to be exploring some incredible wildlife against the stunning backdrop of Shetland a place I have been longing to explore for over 20 years. Shetland is renowned for its seabird colonies, including some rare and beautiful breeds.

Alison Steadman's Shetland was commissioned for ITV by Katy Thorogood, Factual Commissioning Editor and Richard Klein, Director of Factual, and is executive produced by Melanie Leach, Juliet Rice and Dan Adamson for Twofour.
