FORUM Viewer App: FORUM Viewer App Makes Diagnostic Patient Data Available for Mobile Use

With a supplement to FORUM Archive & Viewer, the successful Eye Care Data Management System from ZEISS, the Medical technology business group is now presenting an app for iPads. As a medical grade device, the FORUM Viewer App allows high-quality access to diagnostic patient data wherever and whenever doctors want.

The new software, which will be premiered at the APAO congress in Hyderabad from 17-20 January 2013, runs on the iOS operating system from version 6.01 upwards and is now available in the India growth market and Japan for the current iPad product family. Probably from the end of January 2013, the FORUM Viewer App will be available in Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain and other countries after CE certification.

"On the tablet computer the viewing and assessment of patient information gain a totally new level of quality for the doctor and the patient," says Dr. Ludwin Monz, President and CEO of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. "It opens up new possibilities for diagnosis and treatment of patients."

The solution is ergonomic because it is based on the intuitive user guidance of the iPads and supports the diagnostic workflow; it is convenient as it no longer limits data access to stationary computers and is simultaneously secure because the tablet computers are also connected to the FORUM Eye Care Data Management System outside Wi-Fi networks via encrypted Virtual Private Networks (VPN).

Image data and patient information can be displayed without any loss in quality. In addition, the high resolution of latest generation iPads is supported by Retina Display. For the connection of the app, FORUM Archive from version 3.0 onward is required in conjunction with an additional license. Depending on the availability of data networks, the iPads can be connected not only via Wi-Fi, but also remotely via mobile networks via the 3G/4G/LTE standard. DICOM demo data is immediately accessible after the software is downloaded.

FORUM is a data management system for ophthalmology focused on increasing efficiency in doctors practices and eye hospitals. FORUM supports eye doctors in their everyday work.
