A failed tethered detector in one of the Emergency Department x-ray rooms at North Middlesex University Hospital (NMUH) rendered the room essentially unusable.
We needed a quick and affordable re-fit for the room
said Dawn Hopkins, Radiology Operations Manager.
The cost of replacing the failed tethered detector was high, so we were delighted when the Fujifilm retrofit system with two D-EVO II detectors was cheaper than replacing the single failed detector.
The fast turnaround which Fujifilm delivered from purchase to installation also meant our ED room was operational again quickly, and this helped us to meet our ED target times. Having our third room back in action has been a great help to patient flow and we can now use the room for trolley patients too. The Virtual Grid has greatly helped our throughput as it's much quicker and easier than a physical grid, and the image quality it provides is very high and greatly helps diagnosis. We are also planning to use the D-EVO II C24 detector in SBU to reduce dose and improve image quality.
Our radiographers really like handling the detectors as they are very light and well designed. As we already use Fujifilm CR the transition to their DR was straightforward, and the Console Advance interface is very user friendly. Overall the Fujifilm retrofit has improved our department workflow, is popular with our radiographers and was a fast and cost effective solution for us.
