Eurofins has announced that its Cyber Security division has opened a new Security Test Lab in Groningen, Netherlands, to examine the security of Internet of Things (IoT) devices for service providers and manufacturers.

The IoT Security Test Lab performs testing on set-top boxes, connected TVs, PCs, tablets, mobile devices and other IoT devices. The various components of an IoT device being tested include:

Physical object with a power supply (wired/battery)

Processing unit

Non-volatile memory

Connectivity (wired/wireless)

Sensors

Software with which the device is managed

The lab is set up in Groningen because of its high-quality IT infrastructure (including 5G connectivity), proximity to the University of Groningen, Hanzehogeschool and Noorderpoort, and prolific network of existing public-private partnerships (including the Cyber Security Expertise Centre and the Groningen Digital Business Centre).

Eurofins Cyber Security also partners with and provides content security compliance for the Digital Production Partnership (founded by ITV, BBC and Channel 4).
