Former Bulls Announcer Promoted to Call Play-By-Play at Tampa Bay Rays

MLB.com announced former Durham Bulls staffer Niel Solondz has been promoted to play-by-play announcer for the Tampa Bay Rays.

On Thursday, March 16, 2023, a former CBC'er moved into the booth at the Tampa Bay Rays. Niel Solondz, who previously worked for the Bulls, was promoted to play-by-play broadcaster for the Rays Radio Network from his role as pre-game and post-game radio host.

Solondz had worked in sales and as play-by-play announcer for the Bulls for 8 years beginning in 2004, and left to join the Rays as pre- and post-game host.

Solondz, a tireless worker and enthusiastic broadcaster with an encyclopedic knowledge of the organization, will join longtime announcer Andy Freed in the booth full time, said MLB.com reporter Adam Berry in the announcement about his promotion.

The Durham Bulls begin their Back-to-Back Triple-A National Championship defense on Opening Night 2023 at the DBAP on Friday, March 31.
