RT receives radio awards at the 04 New York Festivals

RT receives 13 radio awards at the 2014 New York Festivals RT - the former New York Festivals reigning Radio Broadcaster of the Year - has received 13 gold, silver and bronze awards for programmes from RT Radio 1 and independent production company, Athena Media, for RT Radio 1.

RT Radio 1 collected five gold, seven silver and one bronze award at last night's event. The New York Festivals (NYF) celebrates the best of international radio at the World's Best Radio Programmes Awards.

The awards, which saw the winners announced at a prestigious ceremony in New York City, set out to honour radio programming and promotions in all lengths and formats from radio stations, networks and independent producers from around the globe.

Jim Jennings, MD of RT Radio, said: This year's awards from the New York Festivals are a vote of confidence in the quality of our programming on Radio 1. Once again, the Documentary on One unit has excelled, winning three individual gold awards. They are joined this year by independent company Athena Media, which has won two gold awards for the programmes Herosongs and the Dublin Lockout. RT continues to be committed to producing quality crafted radio programming for all our stations schedules.

This year, a total of 26 RT radio programmes across RT Radio 1 and RT lyric fm were nominated in 17 different categories, spanning from Best Documentary' and Best Writing' to Best Music Specials' and Best Editing, with a breadth of diverse categories in between RT 's Big Music Week Train won a silver award for Best Special Event.

At previous New York Festivals, RT was honoured with the prestigious Radio Broadcaster of the Year Award.
