Matech Group Emerald for News Awarded 0 NAB Show Pick Hit by Broadcast Engineering

Expert panel of independent judges identify products capable of bringing technical and financial improvements to a broadcast facility's operations

TORONTO, Canada, April 17, 2013 Masstech Group, the leading provider of powerful tools that transform content into assets, announced today that its new Emerald for News media asset management systems had received a 2013 NAB Show Pick Hit award. The long-running award program from Broadcast Engineering magazine is considered one of the broadcast industry's most prestigious technical awards.

The Pick Hit award was determined by an independent panel of expert judges who toured the floor of the 2013 NAB Show to identify innovative products and technology that meet several criteria, including the technical and financial improvements the product can bring to a broadcast facility's operation. The editors and publishers of Broadcast Engineering have no vote in the selection process.

Masstech Emerald for News is the first media asset management system to deliver its core functionality for archive, search and restore by being embedded directly within the desktop interface of Avid iNEWS and Associated Press ENPS newsroom computer systems. Emerald for News enhances the content creation power of a newsroom computer system by giving users rapid, direct, non-disruptive access to shared and archived content stored locally or at any bureau in their group. There are no external application interfaces for news staff to learn, and technical processes such as archiving, conform, transcoding are automated and invisible to the user.

Emerald for News includes the Masstech Media Wire feature that enables media companies to create their own news wire service. With Masstech Media Wire, each station within a group becomes a news bureau that provides content that can be shared with and used by all the other stations in the group. Journalists can publish complete stories, slugs, footage and other assets via this wire so they can be used by all stations to expedite delivery of breaking news, provide exclusive content, and meet other news requirements. This content is made available without requiring any manual uploads, downloads, transcodes or other time-consuming, complex operations.
