Delay in Announcement of Quarter 3 Funding Approvals
12 December 2014: The National Film and Video Foundation Council held its scheduled meeting on 4 December 2014, where amongst other matters, funding applications for the third quarter submissions were tabled. However due to unforeseen circumstances, the NFVF is not yet in a position to announce the outcomes of these applications by close of business on 12 December 2014, as indicated on it's website.
The core of the NFVF mandate is to enable the film industry to work and thrive, therefore any delays, particularly where funding is concerned are regrettable and must be given urgent attention. said Ms. Zama Mkosi, CEO of the NFVF.
This delay is due to an administrative challenge in the transfer of outstanding funds by the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) to the NFVF. However the NFVF is engaging with the DAC, who have indicated their commitment to giving this matter highest priority and is confident that this situation will be resolved shortly.
The NFVF apologises to any inconvenience caused and commits to send out an update statement to the industry by no later than 15 January 2015 or directly to the affected applicants on an earlier date as soon as the issue within the DAC is resolved.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is governed by the National Film and Video Foundation Act 73 of 1997 as amended by Cultural Laws Amendment Act 36 of 2001. The mandate of the NFVF, in terms of section 3 of the Act, is:
To promote and develop the film and video industry;
To provide and encourage the provision of opportunities for persons, especially from disadvantaged communities to get involved in the film and video industry;
To encourage the development and distribution of local film and video products;
To support the nurturing and development of access to the film and video industry;
To address historical imbalances in the infrastructure and distribution of skills and resources in the film and video industry.
