Coverage across RT of UK General Election Results 2024

RT will present comprehensive coverage of the UK General Election 2024 results on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July across digital, television and radio platforms.

RT will have live coverage from London, Belfast, Craigavon, Magherafelt and Dublin with in-depth analysis from our correspondents and journalists on what the results mean for the UK and their impact on Ireland. New London Correspondent Tommy Meskill will be joined by RT News' Fiona Mitchell reporting live from the UK capital, with RT 's Northern Editor Vincent Kearney and Northern Correspondent Conor Macauley reporting on the overall impact of results across Northern Ireland.

From the moment ballot boxes open in UK Election 2024, audiences on the RT News app and rte.ie/news can keep up to date with the very latest results, breaking news, analysis and reaction carried throughout the night with two live blogs focusing on counts in Northern Ireland and the overall UK picture.

Live coverage on the RT News channel (available on all TV platforms and on the RT News App) will have a rolling results service, and breaking developments as well as carrying coverage of the key RT Election programmes.

RT 's dedicated election coverage will also be available to stream live and catch up on the RT Player and RT Radio Player worldwide.

Thursday 4 July

Prime Time starts its coverage with a whistle stop tour of the UK, travelling from Scotland to London to show the issues in this election. As voting ends at 10pm, Prime Time will bring the results of the UK nationwide exit poll with David McCullagh in London, Miriam O'Callaghan in Belfast and Fran McNulty in Dublin providing in-depth coverage and analysis until 11:00 pm.

On RT Radio 1 at 9.45pm there will be a Special Election programme featuring comprehensive coverage of the election count in Britain and Northern Ireland. Colm Mongain will co-present from Belfast and analyse the results from Northern Ireland's 18 Westminster constituencies, as they come in from RT Radio's team of reporters in count centres. Sarah McInerney will be presenting live from Dublin and in London, Philip Boucher-Hayes will report throughout the night and bring reaction to the Exit Poll and the first results from representatives of all the major UK political parties.

Beginning at 11.00pm on RT One and RT Player and continuing on-air until 4.00am the following morning, there will be live television results coverage on UK Election 2024. Presenter Miriam O'Callaghan will be joined by guests at the count centre in the Belfast Titanic Exhibition Centre, while David McCullagh will be presenting coverage of the results in England, Scotland and Wales from Westminster in London, with Ray Kennedy live from the main television news studio in RT in Dublin. The programme will provide coverage of breaking results across Northern Ireland, updates on the wider UK results, interviews, discussion and analysis.

Friday 5 July

On Friday 5th July, an extended Morning Ireland on RT Radio 1, will begin at the earlier time of 6.00am presented by Aine Lawlor in Westminster, Audrey Carville in Belfast and Mary Wilson in Dublin.

RT Raidi na Gaeltachta morning current affairs programme Adhmhaidin will broadcast an extended edition of the show live from Belfast from 7.00am presented by Gormfhlaith N Thuairisg.

Today with Claire Byrne on RT Radio 1 will present full post-election coverage and analysis, as a new government is formed at Westminster.

Sharon Tobin will present 90-minute special television programme, UK Election 2024, on Friday from 12.00 midday on RT One. The programme will feature details of all the results that have happened overnight, plus live coverage from London and Belfast.

At 1.00pm RT Raidi na Gaeltachta coverage will continue on an extended Nuacht a hAon with M ir n N Ghadhra, until 3.00pm.

Nuacht RT will also have detailed election coverage as Gaeilge with journalists ine N Ghallch ir in Belfast and Ailbhe Monach in in Derry, on bulletins on RT One, RT News channel, online and updates on social media, with coverage of the results and reaction from Northern Ireland and Britain on all platforms throughout Thursday and Friday.

RT One's Six One News will have the latest developments as David McCullagh co-presents the programme from outside the Houses of Parliament in central London.
