Republican inquiry service, providing consultations concerning transition to terrestrial digital television broadcasting, is now operated by Beltelecom 03.09.2015

One can address specialists of the republican inquiry service 172 , providing consultations concerning transition to terrestrial digital television broadcasting free of charge. This republican inquiry service is now operated by RUE Beltelecom.

In 2008 phased implementation of digital broadcasting using new standards started in Europe. Belarus timely performed phased transition from analogue to digital television broadcasting. In our country all technical measures were taken timely to make this process more seamless.

On May 15, 2015 analogue television broadcasting was disabled in the Republic of Belarus at the remaining 10 Radio and Television Transmitting Stations (RTTS) of the country, including the main RTTS of the country Minsk (located in Kolodishchi).

The first shutdown was carried out at the end of the 2013 year, when analog television transmitters were switched off in Osipovichi. Development of digital television broadcasting of the DVB-T standard in the Republic of Belarus is performed within the framework of the State Program on introducing digital television and radio broadcasting in the Republic of Belarus till 2015. The State Program is aimed at improving quality of service provisioning related with broadcasting of television programs, enhancing efficiency of radio frequency resource usage, energy efficiency, providing access of the citizens of the country to State compulsory publicly available package of digital television programs, the development of new types of television receiving and transmitting equipment.

In 2011 it was decided to use DVB T2 standard upon deployment of the second and third coverage layers. The joint project between RUE Beltelecom and RUE BRTPC launched in 2013 on deployment of terrestrial commercial television broadcasting now covers more than 90% of the population of the country, more than 88000 thousand subscribers use this service, and digital transmitters, performing broadcasting of terrestrial commercial television, are installed on 84 radio and television transmitting centers. Before the end of the year the total number of digital transmitters will equal 89.

The service on access to digital terrestrial television broadcasting network will enable subscribers to connect television ZALA, where broadcasting of television channels used to be impossible due to the lack of technical feasibility.

The applied wireless television signal transmission technology will give subscribers an opportunity to watch television channels in a digital quality in the most remote corners of our country.

By June 17, 2015 in Belarus, as in many other countries, transition to digital television broadcasting was fully completed. The inquiry service was established, one can reach this service by dialing the short number 172.
