Zenhq Films Screens Three of Six SA Films Showing in Cannes

Of the six South African films screening at the Marche Du Film in Cannes next month, three are from Cape Town production company ZenHQ Films. The three films are Dias Santana, an action crime thriller just completing post production, the multi-award winning Afrikaans fantasy love story Die Windpomp, and the politically incorrect action comedy Bordering on Bad Behavior, starring Tom Sizemore.

Dias Santana is the first South Africa/Angola co-production between ZenHQ Films and Giant Sables Media Entertainment, and is written and directed by Chris Roland and Maradona Dias Dos Santos, with Lee-Ann Cotton producing. The film stars well known South African actors Rapulana Seiphemo (Jerusalema, Tsotsi) and Nompilo Gwala (Isidingo, Saints & Sinners), with an international cast that includes Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails, Pirates of the Caribbean) and David O'Hara (Harry Potter, Wanted).

South African favourite Die Windpomp is screening under its English title The Windmill, on the heels of its US premiere at Sonoma International Film Festival in California. Praised by critics and audiences, the film is currently available in SA online and on DVD.

Bordering on Bad Behavior has been making the rounds on the international film festival circuit where it has won several awards, including Best Comedy at the Indie Gathering Film Festival in the US. The film was released in the US in January.

Both Dias Santana and Bordering on Bad Behavior will release in South Africa later in 2015. Marche Du Film runs during the Cannes Film Festival from May 13 24.
