SNS Enlists Arista Networks 7048 for Vast Entertainment Media Industry Projects SANTA CLARA Calif., Jul. 18, 2013 Arista Networks announced today that its Arista 7048T switch has achieved quality assurance and certification for Studio Network Solutions, LLC (SNS) EVO Shared Storage Solution. The Arista 7048T was chosen by SNS due to its high performance, low latency and best-in-industry buffer capacity, all crucial elements for the high-level file-based media creation and editing that SNS is revered for.
SNS is responsible for projects that have run the gamut across the media and entertainment sector, creating and editing content on everything from major motion pictures to books on tape, to name just a few. SNS needed a system that would be able to support efficient editing and playback of high-resolution video and audio in real-time without fear of data loss or delays. The 7048T proved to be an exceptional fit for the high standard in each of the demanding media settings that SNS is entrenched in.
Most customers use our 10GbE EVO storage system for online video editing, which typically requires a huge stream of continuous throughput with absolutely minimal latency, stated Eric Newbauer, Vice President, Product Management, SNS. The Arista 7048T running EOS delivers the buffering capabilities and perfectly uninterrupted throughput to satisfy the unique demands of our high profile customers.
EVO is SNS's complete shared storage server with Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) features. The all-in-one box system combines a high-performance storage array capable of nearly 2.5GB/s throughput and 4k support with extensive connectivity options including 10 GbE and 8 Gb Fibre Channel. EVO can be a SAN, a NAS, or both at the same time, and is developed and tuned for the demanding workflow needs of a plethora of production environments, including TV, film, video, graphics, VFX, animation, audio, and broadcast.
The Arista 7048T is a Data Center Class switch that supports 48 10/100/1000 BASE-T interface ports and four 1/10 GbE SFP/SFP+ Ports that provide non-blocking performance for all ports. Unlike most 1 GbE switches that are designed for wiring closet deployments, the Arista 7048T provides an industry leading 16 Mb of packet buffer per port that allows for smooth traffic delivery from high speed 10 GbE resources to 1 Gb attached workstations without loss of data under high load conditions.
