What you need to know.

On April 7, 2014, researchers publicly disclosed a vulnerability in a technology called OpenSSL that powers encryption across much of the internet. Information about the Heartbleed Bug' quickly disseminated through popular networks and media channels with many companies asking users to change their passwords.

The Heartbleed Bug exposed a major flaw affecting some 17 percent (around half a million) of the Internet's secure web servers, potentially allowing theft of the servers' private keys and users' session cookies and passwords.

Your Aframe Account is not at risk. We were not affected by the Heartbleed Bug as we are running a stable version of OpenSSL. Our development team looked into our SSL implementation as soon as the news broke to ensure that we were not susceptible to any security breaches.

At Aframe, the security of our customers' media is always of paramount importance and so we do our best to ensure that it is secure, backed up and always available.

How can I tell if other websites are safe? Many websites have openly published information about the effects of Heartbleed on their servers. If in doubt, contact the company directly and inquire about the safety of their website. It's also good practice to regularly change your passwords across all websites that require a login to ensure maximum protection for your personal information.
