Los line arrays JBL Vertec fueron responsables del sistema de refuerzo de sonido directo en el auditorio Staples, en Los ngeles. Adem s, en la sala del comit televisivo se utiliz un sistema de monitorizaci n de estudio 5.1 surround, con monitores de la serie LSR6300 de JBL.
La retransmisi n anual de los Grammy, organizada por The Recording Academy, la llev a cabo la CBS Television Network, en directo en HDTV y con sonido envolvente 5.1. M s de 28.5 millones de espectadores siguieron la retransmisi n de este a o.
Esta edici n fue presentada por LL Cool J e incluy actuaciones de Paul McCartney y Ringo Starr, Madonna, Beyonc , Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Kety Perry y otros. Mcklemore y Ryan Lewis ganaron el premio al Mejor Artista, Lorde se llev el premio a la Mejor Canci n por Royals y Daft Punk obtuvo el galard n al Mejor lbum del a o por Get Lucky , adem s de obtener otros dos premios Grammy.
Por su parte, la marca Lexicon, perteneciente al grupo Harman, obtuvo tambi n un galard n: un Grammy t cnico, que se otorga a personas o compa as que hayan realizado contribuciones de importancia t cnica destacada al sector de la grabaci n.
La compa a TK Audiotek suministr el sistema de sonido principal para la ceremonia de los premios. ste incluy cuatro line arrays de 12 Vertec VT4889 cada uno y 2 arrays de 6 subgraves VT4880A, cada uno. Adicionalmente se colocaron como refuerzo para las primeras filas 12 cajas ac sticas de curvatura constante VRX932.
El auditorio Staples cuenta, adem s, con un sistema permanente de line array JBL Vertec que la compa a ATK tambi n utiliz . Este sistema cuenta con 8 arrays de entre 11 y 13 cajas JBL VT4889DP-DA amplificadas cada uno, m s dos clusters de relleno con cuatro VT4889DP-DA respectivamente, posicionados de forma espec fica para cubrir las ltimas filas. El sistema tambi n incluye cuatro arrays de subgraves, con seis VT4880A cada uno.
En la sala del comit televisivo, Michael Abbott, director de Audio de los premios Grammy, junto con ejecutivos de la academia de grabaci n, confi en cinco monitores de estudio JBL LSR6328P para escuchar la mezcla del evento en tiempo real.
