Britains Next Prime Minister: The ITV Debate

ITV's final preparations are underway for what will be the first, and as it stands, only live televised head-to-head debate between the two candidates vying to become our next Prime Minister.

For the first time in the campaign, Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson will debate head-to-head live on TV at 8pm on July 9th in front of a studio audience in the North West of England.

ITV viewers have submitted their questions, and those selected will appear in the studio audience and will ask their question direct on the night to the candidates.

Julie Etchingham, the experienced host of ITVs Leaders Debates in 2015 and 2017, will then moderate the debate on the questions between the two candidates.

Michael Jermey, ITV's Director of News and Current Affairs said,

ITV has a strong track record broadcasting important political debate programmes, and we are pleased to be hosting what is the biggest political TV event of the year so far, a live televised debate between Jeremy Hunt and Boris Johnson, one of whom will lead this country in just over two weeks' time.
