Tras su exitoso debut en la edici n del pasado a o en el BFI London Film Festival en colaboraci n con American Express, el festival ha vuelto a presentar el Embankment Garden Cinema, una sala de cine de 820 localidades, temporal pero completamente equipada y concebida con las m s sofisticadas especificaciones t cnicas, incluyendo proyecci n 4K. Una iniciativa enormemente popular que, seg n Dominic Simmons, Jefe de Servicios T cnicos de BFI, el a o pasado acogi a casi 30.000 visitantes en s lo 10 d as .
El exitoso debut de 2016 se vio confirmado tanto por la asistencia de p blico como por la positiva valoraci n de los directores de cine, que alabaron la calidad de la sala temporal y la extraordinaria experiencia que brindaba al espectador, que Dominic Simmons quiere repetir este a o: No fue f cil levantar en pocos d as un cine de 820 butacas y un nivel tecnol gico tan elevado, pero los resultados fueron incre bles. La acogida fue extraordinaria y est bamos deseosos de repetir la experiencia del a o anterior. Para este a o preparamos algunas mejoras, y gracias a la ayuda de socios como Christie pudimos ofrecer a nuestros espectadores la experiencia de la gran pantalla del BFI London Film Festival en un espacio nico .
Este a o, en sus doce d as de duraci n, el festival londinense proyect en la Secci n Oficial y las Strand Galas celebradas en el Embankment Gardens Cinema casi 250 pel culas de directores consagrados y emergentes. Construida atendiendo las necesidades espec ficas del festival, la sala cuenta con una pantalla de 16 metros de ancho y la espectacular proyecci n 4K de Christie. El Garden Cinema act a tambi n como eslab n de conexi n entre las proyecciones del Festival en el West End y su sede en BFI Southbank, en la orilla sur del T mesis.
El Embankment Garden Cinema es una estructura r gida, con patio de butacas en grada, un entelado negro para conseguir efecto black box, una completa zona de taquillas y un bar. Los dos proyectores DLP Solaria CP4230 suministrados por Christie se instalaron en una plataforma de seis metros de altura ubicada tras la platea. Los proyectores usaron l mparas 6KSP de gran brillo. Al no programarse proyecciones 3D, se opt por una pantalla mate, id nea para lograr una mejor calidad de imagen 2D.
