Scandal!' fans' heartbreak: Romeo is back but dead again' Scandal' officially killed' the role of Romeo Medupe and fans are not coping.

e.tv's No 1 soapie Scandal! broke the hearts of viewers last night when it officially killed fan favourite Romeo Medupe played by Hungani Ndlovu.

Romeo Medupe was falsely pronounced dead several months ago when he exited the soapie.

The channel set the record straight by releasing a statement on social media in November 2020:

The channel, together with Ochre Media, refute the claims made that Hungani was fired from the show for bad behaviour, nor has his character, Romeo been killed off.

The factual reason for his temporary absence is that the actor requested to go on leave.

We, as the producers of Scandal!, have the highest regard for Hungani's professionalism and humility as an artist.

The character of Romeo is adored by viewers and the Scandal! team alike, and we would love to create stories with him for as long as possible.

HOW HE DIED THE FIRST TIME Boniswa (Lusanda Mbane) hired a hitman to kill Romeo and dispose of his body in a river.

Romeo, however, survived the hit and Boniswa then ordered the hitman to replace his body with that of another dead man.

Boniswa and her daughter Xolile (Sivenathi Mabuya) will both search for the old man who rescued Romeo in the wilderness.

CURRENT STORYLINE Romeo's wife Xolile Langa was called by a doctor in last night's episode after he officially passed away recently.

She and his mother Grace Medupe (Bathabile Mashigo) will go to the hospital to identify his body tonight.

They will be shocked by his death and they buried him months ago and will be more devastated to learn that he was alive all along.

Romeo couldn't contact his wife and mother because he lost his memories when his body was thrown down the river.
