Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM), the intelligent edge platform for securing and delivering digital experiences, today announced that it has been honored by FCW, GCN, Washington Technology and Defense Systems as an Industry Innovator in the annual Government Innovation Awards.

Akamai's efforts in helping to protect governments with its Enterprise Threat Protector (ETP) service, especially around offering its service to protect the mid-term U.S. elections, will be recognized at the Government Innovation Awards dinner on November 8, 2018, at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner in Tysons Corner, VA. Several hundred of the most notable names in government technology are expected to be in attendance at the ceremony.

The Government Innovation Awards aims to showcase the best examples of discovery and innovation in government IT. Specifically, the Industry Innovator category, for which Akamai is being honored, recognizes private-sector companies that play a vital role in the government IT community, focusing on their broad contributions and leadership.

Leading up to the U.S. mid-term elections, the stakes for protecting the nation's democratic system were higher than ever, said Patrick Sullivan, Senior Director, Security Technology and Strategy at Akamai. Enterprise Threat Protector is designed to keep organizations safe from cyber threats by analyzing all external recursive domain name server (DNS) traffic on their networks and determining if requested domains are safe or malicious.
