A Newton stabilizer and a Sony HDC-P50 camera achieve amazing results on ice in the Dancing on Ice (ITV) program En el programa brit nico de televisi n en directo Dancing on Ice, un patinador art stico patina entre los bailarines con una c mara Sony HDC-P50, dotada con objetivo Canon HJ14, estabilizada y controlada a distancia mediante un sistema Newton. En este reality diferentes celebridades patinan sobre hielo con parejas de patinadores profesionales frente a un jurado. Cada temporada tiene diez programas que se emiten en directo en la ITV de enero a marzo reuniendo semanalmente a unos 6 millones de espectadores.
La serie comenz en 2006 pero fue cancelada en 2014 y luego revivi en 2018 con un nuevo estudio de televisi n en RAF Bovingdon. Con la reactivaci n, la producci n contrat a Alan Wells Camera Services, que suministra un travelling a lo largo de la pista de patinaje y desde la temporada 2019 ha ayudado a introducir un nuevo ngulo de c mara en el programa, la Ice Cam.
El patinador art stico Jordan Cowan porta el Ready Rig que sostiene una cabeza remota estabilizada Newton junto a la Sony HDC-P50 y un objetivo Canon HJ14 que es controlado a distancia por el camar grafo Dominic Jackson, a trav s del panel de control Newton en un escritorio de operador normal.
Cowan es un patinador art stico estadounidense que sol a competir en el equipo nacional y, desde hace unos a os, lleva c maras al hielo para filmar a patinadores art sticos bajo el nombre de On Ice Perspectives. A mediados de 2018, Cowan se enter a trav s de un amigo de que los productores del reality show Dancing on Ice en Londres buscaban un c mara que supiera patinar. Jordan explica que me puse en contacto con el productor y les mostr algunas de mis producciones de v deo recientes. Les gust y me contrataron para la temporada de 2019, convirti ndome en el primer operador de c mara de patinaje para un programa de patinaje televisado en directo .
M s agilidad sobre hielo Domenic Jackson hab a operado una Steadicam en Dancing on Ice durante varias temporadas. En octubre de 2018, ITV pidi a Alan Wells que montara un equipo que pudiera moverse m s r pido sobre el hielo y que sustituyera a la Steadicam. Wells apost entonces por un Ready Rig. Para ello, se a adieron soportes de fibra de carbono para que pudiera sostener una cabeza remota estabilizada Newton, que rara vez se utiliza de forma manual.
A diferencia de los t picos estabilizadores de mano, Newton tiene un panel de control que presenta una configuraci n est ndar de emisi n para el ngulo de la c mara y el objetivo, que es mucho m s adecuada para los camar grafos profesionales de televisi n.
El equipo final de c mara inal mbrica, la Ice Cam, pesaba 15 kilos e inclu a un sistema de RF para la comunicaci n de datos, un Boxx Link para el v deo, bater as y un monitor para que Jordan pudiera ver la imagen.
Cowan comenta que el equipo podr a ser m s ligero, pero Newton era el nico card n que pod a mantener un horizonte estable a trav s de todos los giros y vueltas a altas velocidades en el hielo, mientras llevaba el objetivo zoom est ndar de 4,3-60 mm. El Newton tambi n requiere menos espacio para los motores de 3 ejes que, aunque requiere contrapesos, significaba que pod a dejar que el equipo colgara cerca de mi cuerpo y as mantenerlo cerca de mi centro de equilibrio .
