World ATM Congress, Madrid, February 12th 2013 Thales has long been the favorite provider of ATM solutions in Latin America and already boasts over 130 operational radars,224 Navaids, and a staggering 26 TopSky-ATC Solutions representing 50% of the all operational surveillance in the region. These are successes which Thales is naturally proud of, however the group's claims to fame in the region, are the decades long relationships with major ANSPs such as Mexico, Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Chile.
These relationships never fail to bear fruit and 2012 was certainly no exception for the regional leader. This year, Thales signed a record breaking number of contracts, and the region now boasts the widest variety of Thales ATM products across any geography. These include the latest surveillance and navigation systems, the latest air traffic management centres and last but not least top of the line Aeronautical Messaging Systems and Aeronautical Information Management systems.
Specifically relating to its long term relationships with the largest ANSPs such as the Mexican Air Navigation Service Provider (SENEAM), whose relationship with Thales spans just short of half a century, 2012 marked a renewal in their trust in the group. Thales's was selected for a first batch of ADS-B stations that will help monitoring the low altitude helicopter flights, for a couple of radars to be modernised, for a TopSky-ATC back-up centre, as well as for the deployment of the Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS) capability across a significant number of the country's national and international airports. Thales's State of the art TopSky-ATC now handles the entire Mexican air space, one of the busiest networks in Latin America, and a total of 70% of the country is now monitored using Thales radars.
Similarly, Brazil, one of Thales's oldest customers, with a track record of over a 30 year partnership with the group, who, over the decades has awarded contracts for the installation of a staggering 100 radars in the country has this year added to this exceptional footprint by receiving delivery of an additional 7 radars.
The Dominican Republic has been trusting Thales for decades and renewed its confidence in 2012 by signing a contract for a couple of TopSky-ATC to be deployed in Santo Domingo and in Punta Cana airports.
And finally, Chile, another key client of Thales, renewed its 25 year relationship by awarding the ATM giant with contracts to provide an Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) system and the new radar system in Santiago.
These long and established relationships have over the years helped Thales create enough proof points for success across the region to warrant the attention of all a significant number of other major jurisdictions. Thales has developed a host of newer relationships over the years and now works with most major ANSP in Latin America, including Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, selling as broad a spectrum of its product portfolio as can be found in any region. All this is in addition to its Navaids which are equipped across the entirety of Central and South American. The array of products sold is truly impressive, ranging from high capacity radars, to Information Messaging Systems to full bore TopSky-ATC solutions.
Thales's staggering footprint in Latin America never fails to impress other countries, and 2012 was no exception. This year Thales added two more jewels to its crown by signing significant contracts for the delivery of its TopSky-ATC solution with Panama and Aruba. Panama has chosen TopSky for all its surveillance, monitoring and training solutions all housed in a purpose built facility provided by Thales, whilst Aruba's newest TopSky-ATC solution went live at Queen Beatrix International in 2012.
Our long term customer relationships in Latin America are one of the true jewels in our crown. No other geography outside Europe, where we have operated the longest, boasts so many decade long client relationships which are renewed year on year. 2012 represents the culmination of our work here, the important contracts signed throughout this year are a true testament to the fact that doing a good job and working to always keep the long term clients happy will always generate interest by others and we are delighted that so many countries honoured us with their trust outlined Raphael Cervantes Thales Sales Director for Latin America for ATM. We are particularly proud of the assistance we have provided toPanamaand Aruba in their continuing efforts to modernise their ATM networks
