Coronation Street Digital team up with Twitter for a live UK first as Jason Manford is rescued' by cast in a Race to the Rovers'

In a real-time UK first, Twitter and Corrie Digital are pleased to announce on Sunday 6th December at 2pm they will launch Race to the Rovers', a fantastic live 60th Anniversary online event bringing together Corrie fans, cast and digital crew.

Standby for comedy chaos on the cobbles as the Corrie digital team lock' their Mancunian neighbour, Jason Manford, in the Rovers Return and give cast members Mikey North (Gary Windass), Julia Goulding (Shona Platt), Ryan Russell (Michael Bailey) and Mollie Gallagher (Nina Lucas) just 60 minutes to set him free!

To rescue Jason each cast challenger will have to successfully complete a series of mental and physical games before his bar tab runs out! Guest Rover's Roving Reporter', Ben Shires, will also be on site to host the hunt and make sure all's fair in the key finding fun.

Using a dynamic graphic overlay the Corrie team will allow fans to help or hinder each player's progress by using specially created hashtags #CorrieHelp #CorrieHinder. Audience members will also see a selection of their tweets sent directly to hosts and cast as they play along.

We wanted to do something a bit different and this kind of ground-breaking digital project shows that we're constantly trying to push what we can do on the cobbles.

Were incredibly proud to work with the Twitter LAB team, GUUD and Escape Game Design to create this unique experience for our fans - and were sure having Jason being rescued by Mikey, Julia, Ryan and Mollie will be as dramatic as everything else weve seen on the street over the years!

Corrie 60th: Race to the Rovers - will be transmitted LIVE from the cobbles of Coronation Street and broadcast on Twitter. The show is a key digital highlight of the 60th Anniversary celebrations which has included #60for60 videos and an extra special edition of Corrie's Good News' hosted by Colson Smith.

The games are Corrie takes on classic escape game puzzles and created especially by scottish company Escape'.

In partnership with innovative live voting company GUUD, this will be a UK first for ITV & Twitter as we create a live stream that allows the audience to influence the show.
