Cannes, October 15, 2014. SBS Australia has secured rights to factual special Tutankhamun: The Truth Uncovered for Australia. Discovery Asia has also signed a pan regional deal for Asia. Produced by STV Productions for BBC One, Tutankhamun: The Truth Uncovered unveils the previously undiscovered, extraordinary truth about the boy behind the golden mask. Produced in association with Cream Productions, it is co-produced with The Smithsonian Channel and Discovery Canada.

Tutankhamun has fascinated the public worldwide since the discovery of his tomb in 1922. He died at age 19 and the circumstances surrounding his death, which ended the most significant dynasty in Egyptian history, have remained a mystery and a topic of frenzied debate. Using state of the art genetic sampling, medical research and CT scan analysis, this special sheds a new light on his death and family history. And as it does so, it reveals that the young boy king was not all he seemed.
