Victoria and Albert Museum s David Bowie is video wall powered by Dataton WATCHOUT

The David Bowie is' exhibition was one of the most successful and technically complex shows at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. Opening to rave reviews on 23 March 2013 it was the best selling exhibition in the museum's history. David Bowie is' is now on world tour starting at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Canada in September 2013.

Design and Production company,59 Productions and interiors and exhibition designers Real Studios collaborated on the David Bowie is' exhibition design. Expert systems integrator, Sysco AV configured the Museum's existing inventory of technology and Dataton WATCHOUT powered the multi-image display and presentation software in two areas of the galleries including a 7-meter high video wall display and TV displays throughout the exhibition. Sysco AV has worked with the V&A for many years on several exhibitions. WATCHOUT is supported by Mirage Associates, Dataton Premium Partner, UK & Ireland.

The 7-meter high floor to ceiling video wall used WATCHOUT to blend images from projectiondesign F32 projectors, said Hugo Roche, CEO at Sysco.

Video projections were juxtaposed with mannequins dressed in legendary costumes from the David Bowie Archive and showed footage of Bowie's live stage performances, recreating the sensational impact of the musician throughout his career, adds Roche.

WATCHOUT was also used to show various performances of Bowie's 1977 song Heroes in retrofitted displays.

Lars Sandlund, chief operating officer at Dataton said: David Bowie is one of the most iconic musicians and creative people of our time and we're delighted that Dataton WATCHOUT was used along with the 300 objects from the David Bowie Archive to tell the story of Bowie's career and engage, enthral and entertain the Museum visitors.
