7th November 2013: Object Matrix, leading developer of trusted scalable object based archive systems today announces the availability of larger capacity storage units for its digital preservation platforms.

Denser Nodes

During the IBC show in Amsterdam in September, Object Matrix launched two new storage solutions offering 500 terabyte and one Petabyte of nearline storage for £175k and £250k respectively (inclusive of support and 3rd party plugins). This MatrixStore solution provides for plug-and-play ease of management, multi-Petabyte scalability and comes with the option for 10GbE connectivity at no extra cost. With 10GbE connectivity, a one Petabyte MatrixStore cluster can store data at up to 10 Gigabytes per second.

The positive reaction to the launch has resulted in introduction of the following, new, denser MatrixStore nodes:

96 terabytes, 88TB useable (RAID6) in a 4u form factor

144 terabytes, 128TB useable (RAID6) in a 4u form factor

The new MatrixStore nodes can be added to any existing MatrixStore cluster thus ensuring content can live on object based disk archive with little or no management effort.

With its cost, ease of management, performance, scalability and functionally, this MatrixStore product opens up a new dimension for how to handle, use and re-use assets , said Jonathan Morgan, managing director of Object Matrix, But the main benefit that this solution provides has to be that your storage doesn't have to be your bottleneck or headache anymore. Capacity Bundles.

Object Matrix is also changing the pricing structure of its object based enterprise storage offering by offering MatrixStore capacity packs. The capacity pack contains every element required create a MatrixStore cluster from the internal networking to the MatrixStore nodes themselves. MatrixStore capacity packs start from 30TB (useable RAID6) all the way to 1 petabyte. When more storage is needed simply add on additional MatrixStore nodes or more capacity packs.

The new nodes are available immediately from Object Matrix and its worldwide network of business partners.
