BACKVETERAN TELEVISION AGENT PETER MICELLI NAMED ENTERTAINMENT ONES FILM, TELEVISION AND DIGITAL CHIEF STRATEGY OFFICERAppointment Amplifies eOne's Commitment to Talent-First Content Creation on a Global Basis
Los Angeles February 22, 2018 Entertainment One (eOne) has named veteran television executive Peter Micelli to the role of Chief Strategy Officer, Film, Television and Digital. Mark Gordon, eOne's President and Chief Content Officer, Film, Television and Digital and Steve Bertram, President, Film, Television and Digital, made the announcement today.
In his newly created position, Micelli will oversee the Company's television and digital content businesses, leveraging deep industry relationships to drive innovative partnerships across eOne. Reporting to Gordon and Bertram, Micelli will set the television strategy for the Company, including sourcing potential M&A opportunities.
The appointment unites Gordon's producer and creator-friendly philosophy that has been a proven hallmark of his distinguished career with Micelli's profound industry expertise and institutional relationships with trailblazing talent. It also signals eOne's deepened commitment to collaborating with leading creators to produce and finance film, network, cable, and digital premium content, which the Company will distribute around the world.
Pete was my agent for four years, during which he helped me grow The Mark Gordon Company into a trusted destination for producers, talent, and their passion projects. He is an expert at building media companies to become leaders in an increasingly digital and global landscape, and I am thrilled to have him on our team as we continue to fortify and evolve eOne's worldwide content business, said Gordon.
Pete is one of the industry's most innovative and respected executives, known for his creative dealmaking, and strong commitment to talent. His deep relationships will complement eOne's entrepreneurial culture as we aggressively build our business around the world, said Bertram.
For the past two decades, I have worked on behalf of many of the world's most talented storytellers, helping create opportunities for their programming to be seen around the world, said Micelli. I am thrilled to partner with Mark and Steve to build a next generation studio, where artists have greater creative control of their IP and more opportunities to get their projects to production.
Micelli and Mark Gordon have a successful, long-standing working relationship. At CAA, Micelli represented Gordon's The Mark Gordon Company, which was fully integrated into eOne in January 2018. He represented Molly Bloom's novel Molly's Game and brought the project to Gordon, who produced the feature film adaptation, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. He also packaged Gordon's straight-to-series television projects The Rookie, starring Nathan Fillion for ABC, and Designated Survivor, starring Kiefer Sutherland, which is currently in its second season on ABC.
Prior to eOne, Micelli served as Co-Head of the Television department at CAA, where he represented many of the world's leading writers, producers, and directors, and sold projects to and helped develop the original programming slates for Netflix, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and YouTube Red, among others.
Micelli began his career at CAA in 1995.
