Emmerdale is excited to announce two new additions to the Barton Family. Ex-Hollyoaks Anthony Quinlan is playing Pete Barton and Joe Gill will play his younger brother Finn.

James Barton (Bill Ward) has three sons; wayward Ross (Michael Parr) is already causing havoc in the village. But with mounting debts and his farm crumbling James is forced to make a tough decision about the family's future. Soon this proud man is packing up his life and bringing it, cows and all, to Emmerdale for a fresh start.

After having recently re-established contact with his sister-in-law Moira (Natalie J. Robb), whom James has long-standing feelings for, he is forced into moving in with her family, with no other lifelines on offer. But with hot-headed Cain (Jeff Hordley) and territorial son Adam (Adam Thomas) already in situ sparks are sure to fly. Can the newly increased Barton family find a way of living under one roof together?

Character profiles:

James Barton (Bill Ward). James is a single parent. For years he has concentrated on trying to keep his farm afloat and women and dating have not been on his radar.

Bill Ward The Barton boys are tremendous: feisty, strong willed, and a lot of fun to work with... Ive thoroughly enjoyed the scenes weve had together thus far, and look forward to an awful lot more bad behaviour in the future...

Pete Barton (Anthony Quinlan). The eldest of the Barton boys Pete is following his father's footsteps into farming. Pete is one of the good guys and his disapproval of his wayward brother Ross' outrageous behaviour will lead to many an argument between them.

Anthony Quinlan Im really excited to be part of Emmerdale as it's an iconic serial drama. Im privileged to be working with such a great cast and crew on a fantastic production

Ross Barton (Michael Parr). Ross is the bad boy of the Barton family. Totally disinterested in farming Ross decided a life of petty crime was an easier way to make a living. Ross first appeared on Emmerdale when he was seen car-jacking Laurel.

Michael Parr Im really enjoying playing Ross. It was tricky keeping the news quiet that I wasnt just a bad man who car jacked Laurel, but one of the new Barton boys. Ross is a bad lad and great fun to play.

Finn Barton (Joe Gill) Finn is the brainy Barton who arrives with a university education. Farming has never been Finn's thing so he's looking for work elsewhere.

Joe Gill Im very grateful to be given this opportunity. The cast and crew have been class with me so far and the fact I'm able to learn from these experienced professionals everyday is just brilliant. I'm hoping my character can contribute to how amazing the show is doing at the moment."
