Kuala Lumpur, 17 June 2016 All Astro customers can enjoy more K-entertainment during the 60 day free preview of its Korean channels including Oh!K HD (CH 394) and tvN (CH 395) from 1st July until 31st August 2016.
NJOI customers will also be able to catch popular Korean dramas during the free preview of Oh!K HD (CH 394) and tvN (CH 395) channels which are part of the Korean pack.
Fans of Korean dramas will be pleased that KBS World (CH 391, HD 392) and ONE HD (CH 393) will feature more of the latest and popular drama titles like Uncontrollably Fond'(KBS World), Doctors'(One HD) and W' (Oh!K HD) which air on the Same Day as Korea (SDAK).
K-Entertainment fans can also tune into tvN for the greatest variety shows such as Three Meals a Day', Friends over Flowers' and Get It Beauty', world class music shows as well as star-studded original productions specially curated for Asian viewers.
5 reasons why Uncontrollably Fond', Doctors' and W' are must-watch K-Dramas on Astro
1. Uncontrollably Fond' is the next Descendants of the Sun'
Hot from the success of the hit series, Descendants of the Sun', leading Korean broadcaster, KBS World (CH 391 & HD 392) will debut yet another TV gem, set to enthrall K-drama fans across Asia on 7th July with Uncontrollably Fond' starring Kim Woo Bin and Suzy from the K-Pop group Miss A. This series will also mark both stars first return to TV drama in 3 years; Kim Woo Bins last drama was The Heirs and Suzys was Gu Family Book, both in 2013.
Uncontrollably Fond' has all the makings of a hit drama series as it tells the tale of two young friends who re-encounter each other years later as a K-Pop superstar (Woo Bin) and a subservient documentary producer (Suzy).
2. Park Shin Hye high kicks Kim Rae Won in the head in Doctors'
How? Find out when Same Day as Korea title, Doctors' starring Park Shin Hye, Kim Rae Won, Lee Sung Kyung and Yoon Kyun Sang premieres on ONE HD (CH 393) on 21 June 2016. In this drama series, Hye Jung (Park Shin Hye), a bully who is untrusting of others, meets a gifted neurosurgeon after a stint in prison. The good mentor Hong Ji Hong (Kim Rae Won) takes her under his wing, fuelling a passion in Hye Jung to want to become a neurosurgeon as well.
ONE HD will subsequently premiere another Same Day as Korea title, Wanted' starring Kim Ah Joong, Ji Hyun Woo and Uhm Tae Woong, on 23 June 2016.
3. W marks Han Hyo Joos return to the TV screen after 6 years!
After six years, Han Hyo Joo from Dong Yi' will return to TV screens in W' starting 21 July on Oh!K HD (CH 394). W' is a romantic suspense melodrama that tells the story of the incredibly rich Kang Chul (Lee Jong Suk) and curious surgeon Oh Yeon Joo (Han Hyo Joo) who cross paths in different dimensions. Featuring top-tier actors and actresses and produced by PD (Jang Dae Yoon), who is also known for directing hit series She Was Pretty', makes W' one of the most anticipated dramas of 2016.
4. Web of relationships amongst the leading roles in the dramas
Interestingly, the main cast of these 3 dramas are somehow intertwined in the complex web of K-Entertainment relationships. For example, Kim Woo Bin (Uncontrollably Fond) and Lee Jong Suk (W) are known to be best of friends while Park Shin Hye (Doctors) and Lee Jong Suk (W) are also known to be very close and played each others love interest in the drama, Pinocchio' which led to dating rumours last year.
5. From 1st July until 31st August 2016, all Astro and NJOI customers can enjoy a free preview of our Korean Pack featuring Oh!K (CH 394) and tvN (CH 395).
Viewers also get to choose from English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin subtitles for SDAK shows on Oh!K HD and One HD while SDAK titles on KBS World will carry only English subtitles. For added convenience, Same Day as Korea titles will be available via On Demand and Astro on the Go giving our customers the ability to watch their favourite K-dramas anytime, anywhere.
