IBC Content Everywhere MENA
This new event to the show calendar for 2015 took place at the Madinat Arena in Dubai over three days from 20-22nd January 2015
The overall impression was of a well organised high quality event. This event is not a traditional trade exhibition but a content lead conference with a variety of networking platforms and a compact fringe exhibition made up of around 50 exhibitors. The quality of the shell scheme and free standing space was good and the facilities provided in terms of catering, washrooms and general levels of service were very high. In addition there was good Wi-Fi coverage throughout the show.
The high level three day conference programme featured both international and regional speakers delivering case studies and debate around the key issues affecting both the global and regional broadcast media market. Sessions provided insights into the latest issues in the creation, management, delivery and monetisation of content across connected devices.
Attendees gained insight from the people who are directing change in the media landscape.
As well as the main Content Theatre there were free to attend demonstrations provided by exhibitors and sponsors and panel sessions in the Hub located on the show floor.
All the sessions in the Conference area were well attended with a high quality audience, the Hub was relatively less well attended but was still pretty active most of the time.
The programme offered ample time to network on the Hub or within the Executive Lounge areas and also visit the exhibition. The networking was enhanced by the use of the Touch and Connect Devices. Unlike the main IBC show this was available to all exhibitors and visitors used throughout the show which was a great advantage and utilised much more widely.
A slightly different approach was taken with the exhibition space provided in that each exhibitor was on a similar sized fixed cost space meaning that smaller companies had the same exposure as some of the larger well known international brands.
The IABM hosted a networking reception on day two of the show for all exhibitors after the show. Feedback received during the event suggested that exhibitors were meeting with a higher level of delegate compared to other shows and due to the programme and size of exhibition they were able to have longer and deeper conversations with visitors and really understand the needs of potential customers in the region.
So although visitor numbers were not high, the quality of visitor was high and the show floor seemed very active most of the time and certainly busy when conference sessions were not running
The IABM were pleased to offer a special low-cost package for smaller organisations within the IABM Pavilion which was aimed at maximising sales leads, networking and making contacts within the MENA region
In summary, this was an excellent first IBC Content Everywhere event for the MENA Region where high level meetings and conversations took place. It differs from CABSAT and in many ways should not be seen as an alternative but as a supplementary event proving a different and in most cases a better quality of visitor delegate.
