Encompa delivers on flexibility

Global playout and content delivery specialist Encompass Digital Media has launched a new modular and scalable service, initially from its Singapore centre. The service is based on the IBMS Express platform from Pilat Media.

IBMS Express is offered as a software-as-a-service platform. By using a cloud service in this way Encompass can offer rapid access to entry-level services, allowing its clients to get new channels on air quickly and cost-effectively.

Encompass, together with the digital media industry, continues to grow rapidly in the region, and we recently announced the origination and transmission of 100 channels from our Singapore facility, said Deepakjit Singh, the managing director of Encompass Digital Media Asia. IBMS Express makes it simple for our users to add channels and services, and bring new operational efficiencies as their businesses expand.

The new broadcast management service based on IBMS Express allows Encompass to offer three operational models for its clients. First is a fully managed service with Encompass providing the staff and handling data entry, scheduling, reconciliation and other business management. At the other extreme is dry hire, in which Encompass provides access to the cloud management platform, together with support, but the broadcaster handles all tasks.

The third option is a hybrid, in which Encompass and the client agree which parts of the process will be handled by each. In each case, as the management tools are offered through the software as a service platform, clients can operate from their own premises without the need to have a presence at Encompass, further reducing costs.

The new service will enable Encompass and its clients to operate more efficiently and profitably, with staff focused on value-added activities, said Fabrice Beer-Gabel of Pilat Media. Encompass Digital Media Asia is a powerhouse for a wide range of critical media services, and IBMS Express will give it the ability to remain efficient and generate revenues while dealing with increased workloads, more services and a growing number of clients and channels.
