Industry Alert: Screen Australia scoops SAFC CEO as Head of new Busine and Audience Department

Screen Australia today announced Richard Harris as the Head of its newly formed Business and Audience Department.

Richard is currently CEO of the South Australian Film Commission (SAFC), where he has been at the forefront of championing new and exciting local productions, and finding innovative ways of connecting these with audiences. During his tenure, Richard has been successful in developing programs to boost the position of South Australia's established and emerging generation of content-makers and facilitating low-budget online content. Notably, he set up the FilmLab and the Adelaide Studios culminating in South Australia having a record year in screen production for 2013/14.

Mr Harris said, I am delighted to be joining Screen Australia and for the opportunity to work alongside an energetic leadership team with a wealth of expertise. While I am sad to be leaving such a dynamic team here at SAFC, I am enthusiastic about the great potential this new role offers to lead a specialised team in delivering progressive strategic options to the industry for the benefit of the sector.

His smart business acumen and ability to deliver strong creative and commercial success will be a great asset to our new Business and Audience Department. We expect Richard's expertise will deliver initiatives to increase the accessibility and visibility of Australian screen content and take a proactive approach to talent and business development in domestic and international areas.

Richard will commence with Screen Australia in March 2015.
