Support for film and TV producers in Regional NSW

Screen Producers Australia is proud to support Screenworks' innovative approaches to developing the careers of regional film and TV producers.

The Screenworks Regional Producer Elevator Program has been successfully running in Northern NSW for two years, supported by Screen Producers Australia and Create NSW. The initiative continues to nurture the professional development of our emerging regional talent. As part of its affiliation with Screen Producers Australia, the program allows the participants to access a wider industry network.

Screenworks have developed pathways for creative professionals in regional areas to accelerate their career opportunities and access industry resources and networks that would otherwise have been difficult to traverse. We congratulate this unique initiative and look forward to supporting its growth, said Screen Producers Australia CEO, Matthew Deaner.

The program provides the opportunity for regional producers to develop professional skills, to get access to key industry contacts and to help overcome the unique obstacles faced by producers living regionally. This is the first time that the program has been made available to all regional NSW.

Each year, two regional producers are selected to participate in the program, which includes attendance at the SCREEN FOREVER Conference in Melbourne, where they can join in selected emerging producer sessions that take place at the conference. The participants are also allocated $3,500 to invest in their own career development and receive support from Screenworks throughout the year.

Since we introduced the program in 2016, we have been receiving many requests from filmmakers across NSW wanting an opportunity to participate in the program explained Screenworks General Manager, Ken Crouch.

Screenworks has been working incredibly hard to develop its capacity and are delighted to now be able to open this program to all of regional NSW.

We know that this program achieves results - participants from the program have gone on to be selected for Screen Producers Australia's Ones To Watch Program and invited to pitch at the Australian International Documentary Conference. They have also had the opportunity to develop their own projects and receive advice and support from some of Australia's leading producers said Mr Crouch.

Screenworks' Regional Producer Elevator Program is open to producers of all genres, including (but not limited to): TV drama producers, documentary producers and children's television producers.

It is best suited to early-career producers who can demonstrate initial success and are genuinely committed to building their skills as a professional producer in regional NSW.
