ZULU SPONGEBOB APPROVED Mphela added that Nickelodeon Africa will launch the full run of SpongeBob SquarePants in isiZulu from 5 December on NickToons DStv channel 308.
TshisaLIVE reported back in July that the move was to celebrate the show's 36th birthday this year.

We are thrilled to present the premiere of the first SpongeBob SquarePants episode in isiZulu. This is a first in Africa. This provides audiences the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the iconic world of Bikini Bottom like never before.
This is one of the many steps we are taking in our commitment to being more inclusive and more localised while celebrating Africa's rich and colourful heritage and local languages, said Dillon Khan, senior vice president of Nickelodeon Africa.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS FANS REACT @define1234:
What about those kids who don't understand Zulu.
--
@PruZwo:
Like my kids, they don't watch and won't watch.
@Lora_Labarb:
IsiZulu isn't the only language in SA. They need to promote other languages. Re lapisiwa ke go rutiwa puo e nosi.
@PhilMphela:
Remember they are testing markets and looking at putting money behind profitable moves. Isizulu is the widely spoken language in South Africa. The success of the isiZulu dubbed version may open doors for other languages in the future. It's the first step. Let's welcome it.
@lwazi82093855:
No one is forcing you to watch it.
@JustOneRedRose:
Wow, I love that they did this. Takes me back to the days of SABC1 cartoons.
Zulu SpongeBob is literally the funniest thing I've seen in a while
