Czech Radio launches Drawing Online competition for children

Drawing Online is a traditional international artistic competition for children from 5 to 15 years of age. Each January Czech Radio announces a new theme which gives children cause to think and also to discuss the theme with their teachers and parents. The winning works of art are ceremoniously announced in June, along with an exhibition of the best work.

Thousands of works of art in the categories of drawings and paintings, handicrafts or computer graphics and animation compete in the competition. Children from all over the world send in their work - apart from the Czech Republic this includes Italy, Germany, the USA, India, Indonesia, Poland, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, Lithuania, Africa, Slovakia and Switzerland.

We give a chance to handicapped children or children who are placed for the long-term in hospitals or various social facilities. The competing works are evaluated by a panel of judges comprised of personalities from the ranks of Czech culture (for example the painters Adolf Born, Kamil Hlubu ek, Igor Korpaczewski, Dino e o, the actress Na a Konvalinkov , the musician Pavel porcl and others).

The winning works of art are not only displayed in the original, but also on Czech Radio's website in a unique gallery of children's creations, where those who are interested in competing can also find the competition's rules and regulations. The gala opening of the exhibition is a celebration where a rich program is prepared for hundreds of visitors from around the country. Nice gifts are ready for the children whose works of arts are being displayed in the exhibition.

The exhibition also includes workshops where visitors can try out the artistic techniques free of charge.

General Conditions of the Competition

Each child can send in a maximum of two competing works. They can choose from three categories: drawings, handicrafts and computer graphics. The detailed assignment is always part of the rules and regulations for the given year. The works of art are then evaluated in two rounds by a panel of judges comprised of famous personalities from the Czech Republic.
