Bobby Long Pledge Campaign Succe!

UPDATE: It worked! Bobby Long succeeds with a major Pledge campaign and begins recording his new album in Austin, TX with producer Mark Hallman (Ani di Franco, Shawn Colvin, Carole King). Tour dates here.

SGO's excellent adventure with Bobby Long began way back in February 2009. Bobby's manager at the time, Phil Taylor invited us to catch a show in London at The Brady Centre, Hoxton. It was a case of love at first listen.

Since then we've traveled the winding road of rock n roll together, always enjoying a true friendship and constantly amazed by Bobby's talent and tenacity. They've been some very high highs' Let Me Sign on the first Twilight soundtrack; an explosively successful Australian tour promoted by Gaynor Crawford, including Bluesfest; support tours in the US with Rodrigo y Gabriela and Steve Winwood; headline shows at the best clubs across America; signing to ATO Records: and lots more

But now we all feel we've reached the really exciting bit in this new, impoverished music biz era where in most cases the artist has to self-finance their career or kiss it goodbye Bobby is going it alone with a little help from his friends Sharon Weisz, the renowned LA publicist, the US PledgeMusic team, SGO and the people without whom we wouldn't have even considered this move, Bobby's incredible supporters many have been there giving their total commitment since the beginning. The plan is to make and market an album that merits all that's gone into it.

This approach using the very clever PledgeMusic direct-to-fan model is stimulating, fun, rewarding (seeing the support direct via people's pledges) but also a little nerve-wracking. Will the campaign reach its target???? 24 hours in and it's at 20% of goal. So far so good.

Our favourite pledge items are:

A DAY IN THE LIFE Spend a day with me in New York City visiting my favorite haunts. We will go to my favourite record shop, pub, museum and lunch spot, and the dog park with my dog Lulu. Must be arranged in New York at a mutually convenient time.

MY HAND-PICKED SELECTION OF ENGLISH DELICACIES I will hand-pick a selection of gifts from my hometown of Wigan, including my favourite sweets, biscuits, tea, typical English delicacies and souvenirs of my hometown rugby team, the world-champion Wigan Warriors, plus reading material like The Road to Wigan Pier by George Orwell, and loads of surprises. This is just the beginning check back regularly to see what I've added to the basket. It's gonna be great.
