NORIGIN MEDIA Deploys Appear TV Head-end to distribute Hosted Live TV Over-The-Top 12 Sep 2013

Appear TV, a leading global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announced that it has provided a content aggregation solution for the over-the top (OTT) head-end to NORIGIN MEDIA, a company that enables multi-screen TV services.

We use Appear TV to capture the signals for our live encoding and hosting product. We have been partnering with them for a while and they have been very helpful in the recent launch of a new productized version our Live Hosted Head-end. During the project we migrated all our satellite-based channels to the Appear TV head-end which offers us exceptional scalability, flexibility, and availability with reduced operational overhead, said Jussi Komonen, Chief Operating Officer, NORIGIN MEDIA.

Appear TV has supplied an OTT head-end populated with its receiver modules, which enables NORIGIN MEDIA to receive 100s of live TV channels prior to preparing the channels for OTT distribution. The head-end is fully redundant and is already deployed.

Appear TV receiver modules

Appear TV manufactures compact modules for the reception of DVB-S/S2 and DVB-T/T2 that support the simultaneous reception of 4 different satellite transponders or 4 different RF channels.

The receiver modules can be used in combination with all other Appear TV modules, making it possible to combine reception, descrambling, rescrambling, multiplexing, PSI/SI/PSIP regeneration and different output options in a single chassis.
